Message from Pastor Tom

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I pray that each of you is well and managing this situation as best as you can.

Do you know that feeling when something keeps kicking around in the back of you head and it take a while for it to surface? I sometimes get obsessed with making lists of things that need to be done in my life and then mentally review the list.

#1 keep breathing,

#2 be grateful

#3 be joyful

#4 wash my hands

and the numbers go on. Last week I kept having the #46 come to mind. I never have a list that goes past 10 so 46 was confusing to me. It took a while, longer than it should have, but finally it came to me.

It was Psalm 46.

“BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD”

GOD IS OUR REFUGE AND STRENGTH, A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE.

THEREFORE, DO NOT FEAR!

When I was able to open my bible and take in the entire Psalm my life changed. And for the better...much better. I still have the same problems with my business. How do I plant for the spring without putting my employees at risk? What am I going to do with our Easter crop? Where does the money come from to keep the place afloat? Some of the other items on my list. But even given all that I still felt better after prayerfully reading that Psalm.

No doubt you have questions on your list as well. For example, when will this all be over? The answer is: in God’s good time. I’m sure we would all like to provide some advice to God as to when we think that “good time” should be…. Like… now would be just fine. No time better than the present, right?

May we put aside our anxiety and fear and just allow God to be God. He’s got this! And He provided to us His Son to bring us Peace so we should not be afraid in these dark times. We will get through this dark time and when we gather again as a community of faith just think how wonderful that will be. Easter will be VERY special this year regardless when we celebrate it.

From Job 5:17-18

“Behold, happy is the man whom God reproves;

Therefore, despise not the chastening of the Almighty.

For He wounds, BUT HE BINDS UP;

He smites, BUT HIS HANDS HEAL.”

May His Grace and Love and Peace be with each one of us in the days and weeks ahead.

Pastor Tom
